DESCRIBING NEW SPECIES

There are still a lot of undescribed freshwater crustacean species awaiting discovery from India. My work involves collecting and describing such species and finding relationships if/any using morphological and molecular tools

SPECIES DIVERSITY AND DISTRIBUTIONS

There is a significant information gap in diversity and distribution of many freshwater invertebrate species. My work involves filling this gap with respect to certain faunal groups using the Western Ghats as the study region

COMMUNITY ECOLOGY OF FRESHWATER POOLS

Freshwater pools are ubiquitously found in the Western Ghats of India and often harbor unique species communities.  I am interested in studying how the species communities of these habitats are structured and how they vary based on local and regional environmental variables.

SPECIES DIVERSITY PATTERNS IN DISTURBED HABITATS

Anthropogenic changes often disturb and harm the ecosystem. I am interested in studying how species communities are affected due to such disturbances. Using polluted/disturbed water bodies as a model system and aquatic invertebrates as model organisms, I am interested in observing how taxonomic and functional diversity changes due to such changes in the habitats.
